Types de circulation atlantico-européens et régimes de temps pluvieux en Méditerranée (Types of Atlantico-European circulation and rainy weatherpatterns in the Mediterranean)

The significant precipitation decrease (1950-2000) only concerns some of the 6 rainfall sub-regions of the Mediterranean Basin. It is linked with weather regime variations at the sub-regional scale due to the influence of geographical factors on large scale atmospheric circulation, here over the North Atlantic and Europe. Two examples are analysed, namely the cases of Greece during January and of the Mediterranean Iberia during October.
